Welcome to Redhanded Redgum
We are a family business, drawing on over 40 years experience in cutting native Australian timber and over a decade of transforming this into furniture with unique natural beauty.
We live, cut timber and create our furniture on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.
This local timber is characterised by unique richness in grain features, in particular “fiddleback”(a distinctive striped grain).
Despite our remoteness, we can transport to any location in Australia.
Our philosophy is a simple one – to present each unique piece of timber in a sculptural and functional form.
We guarantee your piece will be a uniquely handcrafted ‘one off’. As part of this process we allow the timber to dictate the form of a table, or the shape of the legs.
As a family business we can guarantee that we do not mass produce pieces, instead create one piece at a time to ensure the highest possible quality finish and attention to detail.

Eco Friendly – The Environmental Advantage

We only select local Eyre Peninsula redgum. We do not cut ‘green’ wood. We only process trees that have been dead for many decades, as opposed to cutting down live trees and using energy to ‘kiln dry’ the timber. Not only is this more energy efficient but results in naturally seasoned timber which is highly stable.

The trees we target for furniture are solid throughout, not the hollowed trees that provide habitats for native wildlife.
We believe that our small family business offers an environmental advantage by transforming our local naturally seasoned timber into unique pieces of furniture which essentially ‘traps’ carbon.
